Fertility Control

Male fertility testing begins with a complete personal and family history including sexual history. Then the specialist andrologist will clinically examine the man looking for characteristic signs that may indicate a disorder related to infertility.

After the clinical examination, a special ultrasound examination of the urinary and genital systems follows. The ultrasound of the prostate gland and especially the ultrasound of the scrotum to look for varicocele but also to study the morphology of the testicles, are tests that offer valuable information.

After the clinical and imaging tests are completed, blood tests will be performed to determine the male's hormonal profile in order to search for hormonal disorders. Also, if hormone therapy is required, the laboratory tests help to choose the type of hormone therapy and also to monitor the course of the treatment. The spermogram is of decisive importance. It is the examination that will help decisively in the diagnosis and definition of the problem as well as in the treatment.

In some more severe cases of male infertility, such as azoospermia, genetic testing is necessary to look for chromosomal abnormalities in the man's DNA or mutations associated with the problem. Also, special analyzes and cultures of sperm for microbes or other substances may also be investigated and treated with appropriate medication.
